I have been itching for warm weather for far too long now. I love the fact that we live in an area that experiences all four seasons; nature is really impressive! But at the same time, we live in a cold weather climate and Bobby and I are both itching for the warm weather to arrive and stay here. It has been a struggle to get temperatures consistently higher than 62 degrees or so, so when the 70 degree weather finally arrives, I look forward to lots of corn hole, hammock relaxing, poolside drinks, and spontaneous adventures.
In the meantime, I take every opportunity I can to wear something fun and feminine when the weather cooperates. On a rare dose of sunshine and a mild spring evening I took this striped off-the-shoulder dress for a spin. (Literally. It’s fun to twirl and swirl in!) I paired it with Shoreline sneakers, which I find a little more feminine than the classic Chuck Taylors. And of course a wristlet so I can have my must-haves easily accessible even when I’m on the go. The dress runs true to size but you may want to size down in the Converse.
The dress I’m wearing is currently under $20 and available in all sizes, so snatch it up while you have the chance! The Converse are a great deal too; I purchased a pair last year that look beat up and no longer sparkle like these optic white beauties fresh out of the box, but at that price point I don’t mind buying them once a year! White shoes are obviously impractical, but I think Converse look so crisp, versatile, and feminine when they’re worn in white.
We have been crazy busy around here lately, but things are starting to settle down. In the past week I took a huge exam, finished my last project of my graduate career, and officially completed my MBA and graduated! I celebrated with friends and family and then Alexis and I had a crazy weekend filled with tons of events with our family and friends. It was kind of hectic, but in the best way.
One of the designers I’ve recently become a fan of is Robert Graham. I discovered him thanks to a personal shopping session that Alexis and I had, and a bunch of his pieces were selected for me to try on. Robert Graham designs high quality menswear with an eclectic twist, which I find really cool. Why wear a boring button up when you can wear one with awesome patterns tucked under the collars and sleeves? Below you’ll see how I wore one of my new Robert Graham shirts, which has become one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe.
It’s that time of year that the wedding invitations are beginning to pile up, and if you’re anything like me deciding what to wear is just as much of a decision as deciding how much to gift to the couple tying the knot. I am admittedly one of those people who hates repeating outfits to special events. In every day life, yes I am a major outfit repeater. However, when it comes to events where people are taking pictures and many people are seeing your ensemble all at once, I prefer to try something new and use it as an opportunity to get all gussied up.
Bobby and I have our first wedding of the season in a few weeks and I realized I had still not decided what I want to wear to the shindig. So as I began the hunt for the perfect summer wedding guest dress, I figured that many of you may be in the same position and needing a little outfit inspiration as well! Below I’ve compiled some practical picks for wedding season, divvied into major categories like Standard Wedding Attire, Casual and/or Beach Weddings, and Black Tie Weddings. I’ve pulled out some of the options I absolutely adore and/or think are a major steal, then separated all the picks into convenient shoppable widgets below.
When it comes to our personal styles, Bobby and I both value comfort really highly. Neither of us believe that style and comfort must be mutually exclusive, so I will turn down the absolute hottest pair of heels if it feels like I wouldn’t be comfortable in them for more than five minutes. What’s the point of clothing that feels like torture? I’m not about that life.
Now that the weather is warming up (at least…every few days), I am excited to whip out casual summer outfits for afternoons in the park or a relaxing al fresco dinner. So in honor of Cinco De Mayo, we are rocking some super comfy outfits that are effortless yet put together. Having a few go-to outfits that are simple to pull off are perfect for those spontaneous summer outings where you want to look nice without going over the top. Throw on some bright colors and some loose fitting pieces and you’ve got easy-to-wear outfits that will take you from the park to the bar in low-key style.
Sam Edelman Heels (here) and (here) – These are honestly so comfortable it’s unbelievable!
Below we’ve also linked up a bunch of comfortable staples like these that are perfect for these casual, sunny days! After all — if you’re going to binge on chips, salsa, and margs, you better dress comfortably, right?

Anyone who has ever highly anticipated the arrival of an online purchase or hunted down a cute item to find it in a local store in their size can imagine my disappointment when I ordered the most adorable pair of rain boots only to receive them and be majorly let down. Don’t get me wrong, the rain boots were just as beautiful and chic in person as I had imagined them, but they looked horrible on my feet. I have always been a little irked that I wear a size 9 (and sometimes a 9.5 *gasp*), because having big feet seemed less feminine and certain styles of shoes look awkward on a longer foot. (I know, I know: #firstworldproblems.)
So of course when the Riddlestone rain boot made my size 9 feet look and feel like a size 12, I felt deflated. All I wanted was to be a perfect size 7 and keep the perfect little rain boots. Alas, I’m stuck with a size 9 foot and I’ve gotta learn to love it, so the hunt continues to find a new pair of stylish rain boots that flatter my feet, legs, and aren’t too bulky and clunky. Here are some cute rain boots I’ve rounded up as considerations.
As you can see, I typically go for rain boots that are a little more on-trend and not as clunky or cliche as typical rain boots. Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you can’t have style! For that reason, most of the rain boots I’m eyeing don’t really look like rain boots at first glance. I did include a pair of Hunters though because they’re just too cute!
